i just got some vintage sewing books mixed in with an order of vintage knitting books, and was stunned to discover that in 1953 a Women's/Misses Size 12 measured 30-25-33. i knew Marilyn Monroe was like, a 16 at the time, but even that was only 34-28-37 -- and we think of her as having been fairly bustuous.
