More Mimei Sakamoto

I found a link to one of the comics she drew- looks like she's into the slightly bitter, snarky social commentary end of things. And, from what I understand from my penpals and Japanese friends, this is pretty accurate. (I am no expert on Japan or anything, I've just read a lot of books about the culture, women's culture in particular.)

Kind of chilling, the choices you get in Japan as a woman. You'd better get married, and still preferably before 25, or else you're "Christmas Cake", the cake no one wants to buy after the 25th.

In other things, I have extra work at VGSX this week, and an issue of Furrlough to finish up before tomorrow morning. (The A-Kon program guide went off to the printers safe and sound... our back cover ad looks very nice this year, I'll see if I can't get a jpg to post here...) I'm tired.

Heh, someone's bitter. Yea, sounds pretty accurate. People keep saying times are changing, and I sure hope they're right... (My girlfriend's on the far left btw...)

From what I'd read some years ago, that's about right. Interesting to see the predictions about changes in "the role of women" in Japan from 20 years ago still sound like a dream than a possibility.
