doronjosama: (succubus)
[personal profile] doronjosama
I've been playing The Sims 2: Pets since the end of November and like it very much. I don't get to play as often as I'd like (this goes for all the video games I enjoy), so I try to make my playing count. In working out the ins and outs of the game, I made a couple of Sims based on [livejournal.com profile] dustmeat and JAR, which I use as guinea pigs to learn How Things Work. Sadly, this means it sometimes seems like I am experimenting on my friends, like some kind of crazy mad scientist or something. People have started jokingly referring to me as "The Puppet Master", and I keep thinking of that Bela Lugosi quote from the Ed Wood movie... "Pull the string!"

Anyway, I take screenshots in the game. Apparently, it's quite the popular thing in the Sims 2 community to share these screenshots with friends via LJ, so I am posting them here under a big fat cut tag to save everyone's browsers. Don't make with the clicky unless you are interested in seeing my little Sim puppets. Big pictures and lots of them in the link.

"The Rosales Legacy"
I apologize for the crappy nature of these screenshots too, these were all taken before I realized you could change the default graphics settings in the game...

Here are Joe and Meg, their first screenshot in the game. Unfortunately, it was before I knew how to make two Sims with different last names live in the same household, so they both are named Rosales. Oops. Joe is a Family Sim, and Meg is a Knowledge Sim.

Joe plays with the invisible fish. The Meg Sim really wanted an aquarium, but it became a useless object, since I could never see the fish. (Even later, with my graphics settings turned up as high as they could go...)

Meg ignores Wesley Wyndham Price (from the Buffyverse houses I made) who came home from work with her. She wants a bath, he wants to use the can. This was before I remodelled their house to add some more bathrooms. The lack of bathrooms caused all kinds of issues at the wedding Joe & Meg had, since Stubbly Jones (a Sim made by [livejournal.com profile] suarez) came over and hogged the only toilet for ages. This made the Meg Sim wet herself in the middle of her wedding- despite this, or perhaps because of it, the wedding party was a raging success, with the highest marks one can get for one!

Sadly, I didn't know how to take screenies right away, so the wedding of uncontrollable bladder problems is undocumented.

Despite making Meg pee herself (and subsequently burst into tears) at her own wedding, Stubbly Jones is invited over for chili con carne. Joe discusses a visit to Spatula City with him.

Meg stuffs her face, as she is eating for two. She's wearing her work clothes, as she works in the Science career track. Her lifetime goal is to become a mad scientist. Joe's lifetime goal? To have six grandchildren. Oy vey...

The Meg Sim, pregnant and unhappy about it. She was NOT PLEASED.

Oh no! Labor started in the middle of the night. Meg is most unhappy. The Joe Sim is obliviously snoozing away, dreaming about his boss, of all people.

Labor continued. Joe also continued sleeping. Meg was Very Unhappy.

It's a boy! As the real-life [livejournal.com profile] dustmeat was over here visiting, I asked her what to name the child. He was christened Froog Rosales.

I should add, by this time, Meg & Joe also had acquired a puppy named Worg, who grew into a collie mix of some sort, and they got a Keeshond like dog they named Buppy. The two dogs had three puppies, which I named Sam, Max and Cleo, though Sam & Cleo were sold to other Sims in the neighborhood. Five dogs is WAY TOO MANY to deal with. The Meg & Joe Sims also had a bird named Falco, who tragically died in his cage, due to everyone being completely distracted by the overabundance of dogs and the new baby. The invisible fish also died. Alas!

Meg & Joe and baby Froog in the brand new nursery after their house was remodelled into a two-story home with three bathrooms. Thank god!

The Meg Sim immediately wanted to go back to work post-baby (she had a demanding career track to think about!), so Joe quit his job and stayed home with Froog. I am somewhat scandalized that all the infants in the game wear nothing but a diaper, no matter what. It's kind of trailer trashy, if you ask me... put some clothin's on that baby, people!

Joe playing with Froog; it was very cute how much the Joe Sim liked the baby.

Joe playing with Froog some more. Two seconds after I snapped this shot, Froog blurped all over Joe, sending him immediately to the shower. It was pretty disgusting, though realistic.

Young Froog has become a toddler, and plays with his teddy bear. A filthy diaper is visible in the foreground. The maid had not come yet that day. (The first two things the Meg Sim did in the game? Hired a maid and hired a gardener. Her Wants for those two things were very strong!)

And that's where I will end the tale for now. I'll post some more in another chunk later, once I get more of my screenshots organized. ^_^

Anyway, there's the fun I have with the game. I've been reading up on Legacy Challenges, but going by their rules, I am not really participating in one of those; I just play for fun and thought the pictures would be funny to share.

Also, a note to [livejournal.com profile] dustmeat: I friends-locked this post, in case you didn't want pictures of a Sim version of you out there for the whole world to see. Let me know if it's okay to unlock this post. EDIT: done!
