Busy Busy Busy
Dec. 7th, 2004 10:45 amYesterday being Monday, of course it was busy. Here's what got done:
--finished up Furrlough #141 with
willworks on the production end of things
--turned in said book to Brenner; now to do paperwork for the next few days
--processed orders
--updated the online store with new books
--updated the weekly specials in the store
--did paperwork
--answered some email
--moderated the Radio Comix Forum, which included setting some creators' accounts to the right setting. (Yes, there is a special section for creators on the forum. It's completely invisible unless you have an account, are logged in, and unless I manually fix your account settings so you can see it. It's just the place where we endlessly answer the questions of "What size should my pages be?" and "Have my trib copies been packed up yet?" It's also where we post about important deadlines before the general public hears about them and where we keep the detailed production FAQs, so if you are a Radio creator and you haven't joined the Forum, that's where that info lives.)
--deleted the old Radio Comix Creator Yahoo group because it was just generating spam, and no one used it any more (and someone on the mailing list with a virus was sending out the virus to people through the group somehow...)
--posted some hype around on the internet with
tabitharjones's help
--sent out the Radio Store email newsletter about the new books
--went to the PMB and the bank
Later in the evening,
suarez came over and brought his Taiko Drum Master game and the new anime/j-pop song expansion packs. It was pretty fun watching him play the game. They had a Pink Lady song, plus the themes to Bakabon and Sazae-san! Sweet! It was really cute. The only annoying part of the night was that the phone was ringing off the wall, far far FAR after business hours (and, despite the Radio Edict that you should Never Call On Monday- a rule we've had for seven years!). For the record, there is NO emergency in comic books that is dire enough that people need to try to call me after 10 pm at night. Believe me, it can wait until business hours the next day. Yes, I might still be working on stuff after 6 or 7 pm, but come on, I also might be in the middle of making or eating dinner, taking a bath, or trying to get household stuff taken care of. I don't expect anyone else to be on call from their job 24 hours a day, so it is stressful that I am expected to be. Editors at other companies aren't working 24/7- they can bug out at closing time! (
matthigh is allowed to call for business stuff at night, but that's because he can't call during the day all the time, and he controls the invoicing!)
Today, more order stuff, errands, paperwork, email, and backstock restock. Plus, I think SH is coming over to talk about comic stuff again. So, I'm off to get ready for that stuff. Also, to try to come up with some more money for Brenner, since Diamond is taking their sweet time paying us.
