As usual, I forgot what happened on which day of the con, because I didn't bother to take notes. Durrrr..... So, scattered con report to follow.

--Genus: Male #5 and Ice Queens #1 were the two best sellers of the con, respectively. No surprises there. The Radio tables did well, we were able to cover con expenses and pay out a bunch of payments to various artists at the con, so I consider it a success.

--[livejournal.com profile] melly's costume was totally kick ass and deserved more than second place in her category. Ah well, it was kinda scary, and most furries don't seem to do well with the scary.

--The Team Shuffle table (where I was parked) was very busy through the whole convention. We had no drama over sketchbooks this year, which I considered a good thing. I don't know if that was due to me raising their commission prices or what, but the truly rude, demanding fans seemed to stay away this year. (No commission requests resembling the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel on a 5 inch by 7 inch piece of paper, anyway...) The new prices weren't that high, just what I thought was reasonable, considering the amount of work the Japanese invest into every piece.

--We saw many, many people, so by the end of the day each day, my brain was overloaded and my social button was permanently stuck in the "off" position. I am actually rather shy and after a day of being perky at the dealer's tables, I usually am ready to hide in a cave for the rest of the night. So, I apologize to anyone who wanted to do a giant dinner thing or party thing with me- it wasn't personal, just my natural aversion to crowds kicking in.

--Food wise, we had small, quiet dinners which were very nice. Thursday, I had In'N'Out in the room (takeout), because I started getting a stress migraine after setting everything up. Friday, we took the Japanese artists to Buca di Beppo, as one of them was having a birthday. Saturday, we had completely unexceptional Japanese food at a local restaurant that used to be really good. (My unagidon was poorly made and burny. Ick. Sympathize with the eel!) Sunday, we went to the Elephant Bar for tasty fusion food. Breakfast and lunch each day consisted of Kudos bars, my old pal Gatorade (my usual convention fuel!), Twix and Pringles, simply because we didn't have time to go eat before the dealer's room opened or during the day. I had a plain bagel one day, and [livejournal.com profile] matthigh brought me back a Jamba Juice smoothie at one point when he went to pick up more change at the bank. On Monday, I finally got my good Japanese food at the Mitsuwa of all places- I had a mini katsudon and mini udon special, and got a side of tekka maki. Yum! ^_^ Dinner on Monday was at the Red Robin where I had salmon & chips, which was super-rich and impossible to finish.

--The art show seemed to have a lot of really good work in it, though I think perhaps the poor economy may be affecting the sales. A lot of gorgeous stuff went for minimum bid, or not at all, and it seemed equally spread over almost everyone. I think perhaps the con had the anime con bug, where many of the attendees have saved up just to get there in order to socialize with friends, and then have little left over for the dealer's room or art show. I know we had a lot more people coming up and mentioning they had to be careful with their budget or mentioning that they were completely broke. And that's something we hear a LOT of at anime cons, where a lot of the attendees are just there for cosplay and socializing, or to see the j-rock bands. Back to the art show, the three dolls by Bureido-san that Trump-san brought all went to good homes, so that was good.

--As I said before, we saw a TON of people. It was great to see them all, and we got news of new work coming our way. Also picked up a metric TON of covers for the books, can't wait to start using them all! Hooray!

--Was asked repeatedly by many many people if Radio was either a) going out of business or b) being affected by the Diamond policy that has caused Mu Press to cancel some books. The answer to both questions is a resounding "NO". We are fine. I admit, we really need to update the front page on the Radio website, but that keeps getting put off by actual work and by the fact that PD is supposed to be redesigning a new, easier-to-update website for me. (It hasn't happened yet, but supposedly it is being done...) I need to just add some stuff to it. Regarding the Diamond thing, we are in no danger. Hooray for stable titles!

--As usual, the fursuits scared the crap out of me. I'm sorry, I can appreciate the workmanship in some of them, but they just scare me. Eek.

--I went to one dance on Friday night, and stood disapprovingly by the wall the whole time. Apparently, no one has gotten the memo that techno is dead and boring as fuck. Yawn. Techno is for computer programmers to listen to while they code or play first-person shooters. It is only for dancing if said dancing is being done in an abandoned warehouse under the influence of several illegal substances. Which, you know, isn't really happening at a furry con, sorry. And the DJ's should take note- if you play a twenty minute song that CLEARS THE DANCE FLOOR, that is a SIGN to play something else. I thought that was covered in DJing 101...

--Con-goers seemed to be divided into two distinct camps- people who were very nice and polite, or people who were horribly, viciously rude. There were no in-between people this year. What's up with that?!

Overall, a good show and we already bought our space for next year. It was great to see everyone, and I really wish I had gotten more time to hang out and chat with people!
