I watched this whole documentary tonight on YouTube, and it was totally FASCINATING. Could not look away! So much glitz! So much makeup! Such skanky outfits! (Some on the mothers-of-the-brides!)

I'm always fascinated by the Rom/Traveller culture anyway, so it was must-see TV as soon as I heard about this show. Those dresses weigh something like 200-300 pounds. CRAZY. But AMAZING.

Honestly, I feel bad for the girls, having to get married in their teens, living with such strict societal pressures, etc. But that's probably why their weddings are such an enormous deal. It's their one big blowout before they have to start being homemakers and mothers.

I really did watch it with a combination of horror and fascination. I was transfixed!

And! I've just learned there is a new TV series based on this documentary that just had the first episode on the 18th of January. I have GOT to find that! :D

Oh my god. The geometry of those dresses is amazing but I'm so sad about the young girls. They're just babies. :(
