The Sound of Waves in a Pool of Water

Well, there's no way I'm going to Minnesota. The cheapest airfare I could find was $350, and I just don't have that kind of money lying around. (Yes, children, despite all your wildest fantasies, there is officially No Money In Comics. Just like there's No Crying In Baseball. If I'd wanted to make real money, I'd have become an accountant or perhaps gone to beauty college.) Much as I would like to go, it's just not going to happen, and it would have thrown a major monkey wrench into the works here also. There's just too much to do this week.
Today, I didn't really get much accomplished. I did some paperwork I needed to do and talked to
matthigh about the bookstore stuff. Just because we signed the agreement doesn't mean it's all done and now we're on the graphic novel gravy train. We haven't even gotten the first purchase order for the first book yet, as we're still jumping through hoops to get them all the info they need. I don't expect it will move very quickly.
Once again, the Radio Store is down. I'm starting to get really, really, REALLY ticked off about the yo-yo-like nature of the store. It being down actually does negatively impact our bottom line every time it happens. Not to mention the fact that it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in our customers if they can't access it 24/7. Plus, when it's down, I can't check on the status of anyone's online order when I am answering emails or the phone, and that just makes us look incompetent. Of course, we can't get ahold of the guy running the server right now.
We had dinner with JAR and
dustmeat, as well as
jameshanrahan. In doing so, I've blown my "fun money" budget for the next two weeks (thank you, ebay!), but it was worth it to see Dustmeat in a non-convention situation. There's never any time to talk to people at cons. After dinner, I recorded the first two eps of The Tribe season 5. They look to be bringin' the drama this season, which is awesome.
Not too much else going on. I'm in an understandably bad mood, made worse by the bills hanging over my head and the store being down, plus all the desperately URGENT work that HAS to get done this week. And, oh, yes, once again we have late books I can't do *anything* about, since I'm not allowed to threaten people with axes here at Radio. ^_^; Hooray for frustration!
And the cherry on the sundae of today was that Indy got into the back of the apartment and attacked Batty, scaring him so badly he pooped himself. Indy then ROLLED Batty IN the poo. Bleargh! Fortunately, it was on an empty, flattened box (Batty likes to claw big flat pieces of cardboard), which has been thrown out and everything around the box was cleaned and sterilized. Batty has had a bath and is now my very, very best friend. (He gets all cuddly after a bath.) There is no hope for reconciliation between those cats, as Batty lives in mortal fear of Indy, and Indy is being a bully.
