Itchy

Something is causing allergic itchy watery eyes, despite a cocktail of over the counter allergy meds. It's pretty gross, and makes me look like I am constantly about to burst into tears, like a silent film heroine or a girl in an arty French black and white film. Which, you know isn't a *bad* look per se, but I could do without the itching. And the tearing up. Ick. I just pray that I don't have a sneaky case of pinkeye or something.

Solicitations for June books were happily finished and shipped off today. They will be Furrlough #161, Genus #77 and the long-awaited trade paperback for Josh ([livejournal.com profile] superhappy) Lesnick's Girly. I am really excited about this book, because I think it's a really funny strip. Josh has a preview of the front cover here on his Livejournal, and I highly approve the massive quantities of pink involved.

Also got most of Furrlough #156 hammered out last night and today, which just leaves me with Milk #51 on my plate. Between that and riding herd on Manga #3's impending deadline, I will be kept pretty occupied the rest of the week. (Plus a shift at VGSX and the weekly mail, of course...) But things are proceeding and getting worked on and handled, so that's all good.

In other things, I am tired! Time to go watch an old movie or something on TCM and fall asleep.

Currently reading: Strange Fascination: David Bowie, The Definitive Story by David Buckley and Hollywood Babylon II by Kenneth Anger. The second one is probably the bitchiest book I have ever read.

I signed up to get bulletins from the local club I like, and it's an exercise in temptation. Before, I never knew when they were having events or shows, unless I made a concerted effort to track down the info, and now it is delivered right to me.

And of course, they are having a ton of events this week I'd want to go to- but I can't because of deadlines! Last night, in fact, they had a free cover/cheap beer (I don't drink, but friends do) night when they were going to be playing nothing but old punk, ska and psychobilly on the dance floor. Later this same week, they are having a goth gathering of some sort, and a Bettie Page look-a-like contest that the Flametrick Subs will be playing at. Not to mention the fact that every Saturday is Retrovision night, when they play nothing but 80's stuff. (And I mean the good stuff... they have an awesome DJ.) Later in the month, 45 Grave is coming.

I think it might have been better when I was ignorant of all these events. I am getting too old to go clubbing all the time. (Sleep is so much better...) Also, getting people to go with me to these things is not easy and it gets expensive. (I don't have a particularly club-going group of friends locally... we're homebodies, most of the time.)

This time, by the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] dhstein, again for Dangerous Vol. 2 #2.

Completely NOT SAFE FOR WORK male elf nudity in the link here. I'm serious, don't click if you don't want to or can't look at such things.

Between the gorgeous stuff we are getting in for Dangerous and the solicitation of the Girly trade paperback, I am pretty delighted by stuff we're publishing so far in 2006. Yay for comics! I can't wait to see the finished stuff for Anubis: Dark Desire #3, which I know is also coming fairly soon. So! Excited!
