Manga artist Mimei Sakamoto does her version of the classic Shatner "Get a Life!" speech.
She's pretty right on the nose about it. And it's awesome that she spoke out so plainly about it!

Date: 2006-05-14 08:57 pm (UTC)Seriously, I believe that these types of places (strip clubs, maid cafes) simply cater to a need, and that need is attention, usually involving some form of fetish, be it a slinky sex pot or a girl in frills. As long as the attendees go in with the proper attitude, I don't see anything wrong with it as long as the customers and employees are willing participants. Once I figured that out, the places were a lot more fun. Hell, my wife and I still go to strip clubs with our friends (Though Hooters still doesn't make much sense to me. I must need to be a sports person...)
And as far as real otaku go, it's a good thing they do go to those places because I wouldn't wish them on a real person. Despite popular culture's belief, the love of a good woman (or man) isn't going to change these poor creatures until they actually want to change.
