Work Complete

Today was busy, as we were finishing up the three books that were due at the printers. And hooray, off they went into the hands of one of the nice girls there. Now to get to work on the next batch. The books at the printers now are Furrlough #163, Genus #79 and Foxxxies #1.
I'm hoping I can get some more of my office organized this week. I'm also hoping we can find the OSX install discs that came with my iMac, since it is still running 9.0 and running like ass. Well, the internet certainly runs like ass on it, since I can't use Safari or Mozilla without OSX. Yay. So, since I need the internet to actually *work* on that computer and not go all funky whenever I load a page more complicated that a video game faq written in SimpleText, we need to back up the machine and install the new OS. I am afraid PD may have given the install discs away to one of his friends, which would make things most annoying.
I also have a ton of stuff to pack up this week, including more contributor copy packages. I would've gotten more of those made up for the mail drop last week, but the Genus subscriptions ate up the last of the comic bags & boards, so I need to go get more of those as well. I've got the Hit the Beach trib copies to start packing up, and that will eat up a ton of mailing supplies- funny how a book with 40 people in it will do that... -_-;
I caught a couple of cartoons on TV tonight while I was eating dinner- how come no one told me there was a Pucca cartoon on Toon Disney during the Jetix block?! It was really awesome, well animated and really funny. I also finally caught an episode of Oban: Star Racers and that show is totally awesome! My only problem is that I can never keep track of when shows I like are on TV, and Disney is notorious for either never releasing their cartoons on DVD, or releasing them in crappy lame-ass formats. (I'm looking at you, Kim Possible, which has no chronological, season based DVD releases... and why is there no release of Fillmore?!) Also watched an episode of Getta Robo Go from 1991 today while burning some old tapes to DVD- they just don't make anime villains like they used to anymore. The main bad guy in GRG basically went around everywhere on a golden chair which was attached to the belt of a gigantic black woman who was dressed as a barbarian. What the hell?! Ah, old school anime, you always bring the crazy to the yard. ^_^

Date: 2006-09-19 03:02 am (UTC)Trib copies for Hit the Beach already? o_o Will you be shipping those soon? I'm just curious... I'm just surprised!

Date: 2006-09-19 06:32 am (UTC)Yeah, I'm trying to get faster at getting the trib copies packed up at least... getting them shipped out just depends on how much moolah is left in the postage budget each week after the mail order for the week is accounted for. If we have a heavy mail order week (like when we get a ton of international orders, they always seem to come in waves...), it slows down the trib copy packages, since we can't send as many if the mail order eats the whole budget. -_-;

Date: 2006-09-19 07:18 am (UTC)It looks like I'll have to go to the local comic shop and see if they'll order me copies of Furrlough and Foxxxies... even if I'm going to be getting trib copies. ^_^; *does a happy dance!*

Date: 2006-09-19 05:24 am (UTC)Disney's lack of love for Filmore is travesty. Much like Oban Star-Racers schedule and it's constant state of ever-changing ARRGH.
It's like Disney haet us. ;__;
... much like old school anime bad guys. I've never seen Getta Robo, but if it's anything like Campus Guardress or Kakugo No Susume, I'm sure it's made of awesomely horrible badness and political incorrectness.

install discs
Date: 2006-09-19 12:21 pm (UTC)can't you get replacement discs from Apple? they should have a record of your right to possess them, assuming they were legitimate.
Re: install discs
Date: 2006-09-19 04:12 pm (UTC)That said, it's easily documented that the system came with OSX (since every Mac sold between date X and date Y will have come with disc set Z), so you can install from whatever discs you have lying around and there's no legal problem. Naturally, I have discs laying around because that's kinda what I do.

Date: 2006-09-19 06:16 pm (UTC)"Oban: Star Racers"! That's actually on the air? W00T!
I saw a preview of that a while back and it looked neat.
I dug the whole Moebius Pod Racers vibe.
Holy crap, I just realized that I saw that preview almost 5 years ago!
You remember Avi Melman? Actually, you might not even have known him.
Anyway, he's a cartoon producer and he is the one who showed me the Oban preview.
He said it was a French show in search of US distribution.
Yaaarrr, gonna have to prog ye olde VC-arrrrrrrr...

Date: 2006-09-20 03:07 am (UTC)But I did find a fairly decent OS9 browser: Wamcom's Mozilla. The most recent version (1.3.1) is from 2003, but it's still pretty good. I have very, very few problems using it (definitely fewer than I did using Explorer). Easy to install, and there's no conflicts with other applications.
