Crisis Averted...

Wednesday night we got a bit of a scare when we discovered that none of our December-shipping books were listed in the October issue of the Diamond Previews catalog. So, yesterday was spent finding out what happened and what we could do about it, since Furrlough has been a monthly title since 1993 and I certainly didn't want that to change.
The skinny on what happened was simple miscommunication. No sinister plot on the part of Diamond, no hidden motives, no conspiracy, etc. Just a plain old miscommunication between the two companies. We've gotten a formal apology, and the December books will be listed in the November Previews for books shipping in January. (Retailers will also be informed of the mixup, so it shouldn't affect their orders at all.) So, while it will appear that we are shipping two issues of Furrlough in January, we will still be shipping the December issue in December like normal, along with the December issue of Genus. So yay, it won't really affect us at all.
This has happened to other comic publishers before, so it's not really a huge deal or anything. Just one of those odd things that happens sometimes. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, given the enormous amount of data Diamond has to collate into an average issue of Previews- lord knows if I had to put that book together, I'd probably miss something every month!
Today I have to help work on the mail order, pick up books from the printers, and go to the bank to make sure I can cover the rent in a couple of days. Excitement.
