Who turned on the cold switch?! It's FREEZING in San Antonio today. There's a cold biting wind that cuts through everything and chaps your hands almost instantaneously.
I shouldn't be surprised though, the way we get winter here in Texas has always been like someone flipped an on/off switch. Yesterday, it was shorts and t-shirt weather. Today, it's so cold it makes my bones hurt. Of course, today I had to go out to do errands so I can make sure the rent is covered tomorrow. Lucky me, when we went to the PMB to check the mail one of my FurBid bidders had mailed in his payment, so that meant a trip to the grocery store for $30 of staples (peanut butter, jelly, bread, milk, cat food, catbox crystals, etc). Thank you very much, generous FurBid bidder, for keeping us in PB & J sandwiches and ramen for a couple more weeks! ^_^
In other stuff, work continues. Regular day-to-day stuff, including paperwork, email answering, subscription packing, and the like. We have two books at the printers, and are slowly piecing together the next batch.
Personal wise, I may have made a tremendous blunder in attempting my saving throw vs. addictive computer games. DG & AG showed me how to play The Sims 2 (complete with all expansions, including Sims: Pets) at their house. I've gone over to play twice now, and that game is just way, way, way too fun. How can a game where you have to clean up after yourself, get a job, and take care of pets be so fascinating and entertaining?! I don't understand! But it was very fun, since a bunch of our friends have made families in their town also, so everyone's Sims interact with each other. They've even made a Sims version of Dethklok, which is pretty darn amusing. Fortunately, my severe lack of disposable cash means I can't afford to buy a new video game (especially not one with so many essential expansions), so I am probably somewhat safe from complete and total game addiction. Hooray? I'm saving my video game pennies for the World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade expansion in January anyway. Other personal entertainment news: saw some more of Torchwood thanks to
theuberbob, and while I like the show, I am *not* liking some of the romantic developments. I'm not feeling the chemistry between some of the characters the way I did between the Doctor and Rose in the new series. But, then, if I am yelling at the TV, it usually means I am into a show enough to care what happens to people!
Currently watching: Carnivale Season 1; Gilmore Girls Season 3 (shut up, I like the dialogue); Buffy Season 4; Angel Season 1 (Basically, we watch one episode of each every so often when we have time. We are very slow about going through the DVDs...)
Currently reading: From Eroica With Love Vol. 6, Strange Fascination (yes, that Bowie biography, I am still chugging through that... it's REALLY big!)

Date: 2006-12-01 12:01 am (UTC)And I really like Gilmore Girls! I didn't think I would like it when it was on, I guess because the incessant WB ads they ran for it were so annoying. But I really like it a lot, especially the insane pop culture references all the time. Since that's how me and

Date: 2006-12-01 05:48 pm (UTC)I've managed to miss Heroes completely so far. I will probably do what I always do and catch up on DVD. I work such funky hours I always forget when TV shows are even on!

Date: 2006-12-01 03:23 am (UTC)Gilmore Girls rocks!!
The snappy dialogue is tons of fun.
It's the kind of wacky-ass banter me and Spino and other like-minded folks engage in.
And I really like Lauren Graham... . . . . A lot...
I'm gonna wind up renting the DVDs, I just know it.

Date: 2006-12-01 02:29 pm (UTC)yesterday afternoon & evening we had freezing rain (on cars, trees, and other surfaces -- the ground/pavement was still too warm to ice over -- so had to scrape all windows of about 1/8" of ice before i could come home from work at 5. bah.
then it warmed up slightly overnight, so we enjoyed the sound of ice falling off the trees onto the roof all night.
at least it wasn't branches falling & taking out powerlines.
now it's snowing horizontally.

Date: 2006-12-01 04:44 pm (UTC)I've been curious about Carnivale. Is it any good? :)
Re: Wow?
Date: 2006-12-01 05:45 pm (UTC)We're only on episode 2 of Carnivale so far, and it is fascinating! Circus life (complete with unusual carney folk) in the 1930's during the Dustbowl? Check! Crazy religious nuts with unusual powers? Check! Incredibly accurate period costumes and makeup? Check! Strange supernatural happenings? Check! Tarot symbolism all over the place? Check! I'm liking it a lot so far and it is really mysterious and creepy.

As for Carnivale, now it looks like I'm going to have to rent the series. *grin* Love that kind of stuff!
